Last day of March

Here it is the last day of March, 2012 and have had a busy time with my family who r visiting us b/4 they leave for Korea for his new duty base with the U.S. Army.  We spent the day hiking at DeSoto State Park at Fort Payne, Alabama (home of the music group, Alabama).  The hike took us over three hours to complete, and I tell u, I am still feeling the soreness and stiff muscles today.  Here is a photo from the hike...I have over 50 pics I took that day...can't display them all here!!

I am doing some fun things to some of the pics, plus, after everything slows down here, I plan to order prints and create a couple albums for the granddaughters so they can remember the day.

This week we plan to go to the Cathedral Caverns  but that will be a easy walk compared to the hike in the park...lol

Today we will be planting flowers, baking cookies and just hangin out here at the house.  We will be cooking out tonight, and tomorrow is our early Easter dinner along with Easter egg hunt which we will be decorating today sometime.

Good Sunday morning...today is the day my son and family will be arriving ... actually sometime tonight, hopefully around 10 p.m. The day has finally arrived!!!  And I am soooooooo excited....can u tell?  But he informed me on the phone yesterday, that 2 weeks from tomorrow, Monday 26, they will be Korea!  Pray that the next 2 yrs will go super fast.....:-)

I worked up this Barn with a chicken and rooster, and added silhouettes of the birds as well .... for a scrapbook page of a visit to a farm or zoo, or if u live on a farm ...

Vacation time

If u see me MIA for the next week and half, it will because my son and family will be arriving tomorrow evening/night and spend time with us here in rainy Alabama until the 5th of April.  He and family will be spending the next 2 yrs in Korea with the U.S. Army...and I hope it goes by fast. (No plans, on my part, to travel to Korea...way to expensive for me!!)

So.....I will check back when I can, and could possibly slip in a free file for you all.

Beauty of Spring

Just received this ....

This is for the scrapbook page of my two granddaughters featured in a heart shape puzzle piece.  I had to remove the posting of the design, but will re-post along with this badge again after April 18, 2012.

The featured scrapbook page will be published on March 18, 2012.  This really surprised me as I felt it was a slim chance of being published in any magazine.  Soooooooooo.  on this coming Sunday, check out the picture at Scrapbook News and Review Magazine.  I'm ready to burst....

I created these mats for the Funky Bird card I posted a few days ago because I do not own a set of Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Ovals and I am trying to convince myself that I do not need to purchase a set of these dies.  Now I would like to create a Diorama Card using a oval shape...I guess I'll get out my plastic template from Couzzle for this technique.  You can view the Diorama Card tutorial over YouTube ... here is the link ... Diorama Card Tutorial.  She used paper punches from Stampin! Up or a Sizzix Mover punch for the BigShotz can be used.  This is a card I would like to make up to go with my niece's baby gift.

Quick Broomstick Lace Baby Blanket

I was watching Knit & Crochet program on the local PBS Station (Create) and they had instructions for Broomstick Lace ... a form of crocheting using a huge knitting needle (size 50) and I thought...since my niece had a baby girl six weeks ago, I would attempt to make one for her.  Now to watch the Missouri Quilt video again to refresh my memory in making a self-binding baby receiving blanket...and presto ... two baby gifts for Randi Anne and Averi Renee....

I enjoyed making this, and I know there is some boo-boos in the project, but quite honestly, I can't see them...lol.  The hardest part was crocheting around the edges to give it a finished look and I think it turned out great.

Another Card and free file

Recently I was looking at Club CK and decided to sign up for a die-cut swap where we use die-cutters or punches and make up die-cuts to send to a group...this is a group of 20 people that sign up and right now it's at 17...here is the link if anyone is interested in the Club/Forum...

You do have to look a little for the letter 'o'...covered it with a butterfly...should've brought the butterfly down just a tad-bit .... next one will be corrected!!

Please, please let me know if you have problems downloading the file...in your comments supply your e-mail and I will send to u as a personal file download.  I do check my blog on a daily basis, and more than once during each day for comments, etc.  

Occasionally I have problems with my antivirus software claiming a malware threat when I am attempting a download from a website, but I'm almost wondering if it's the software set up to prevent hidden ads/snoopers as I call them from downloading....

I clean up my laptop on a weekly basis...getting rid of the websites that attach themselves to my system...and scan for virus and I have a 'clean' system...no virus, etc.  Now I use box.com for my downloads (they're free to use and I love free) and it could be the antivirus software not recognizing that website.  Don't know...
