A note regarding the baby album/card for my great grandson...I did not create this as a cut file because it involved different cut files that I have on my external hard drive plus trying to get the Cricut Personal to work with my new laptop and Windows 7 is nearly impossible.  I was able to cut the individual pages b/4 the Cricut refused to work anymore for me.  And I'm able to use Make the Cut software with my Cricut but it's selecting cut file several times and unplugging the usb cable from laptop b/4 it will even cut for me.  I am hoping to purchase the Cricut Expression in about 2 weeks and hope that it will work...b/c I have a word book to cut out for the great-grandson and one for my granddaughters each.

Of course, I will create a cut file if anyone is really interested. Just e-mail me at cmsmith46580@gmail.com.  I have another one in mind to create too.  I am on vacation in Kansas and once I get my new Cricut (x-mas gift to myself) I will create more.

Thank you for the kind comments.

Here are three svg files that I created today to share....I've included the files for Make the Cut...

Now a simple file to share with you....a scalloped circle card with a scalloped insert that you can cut out either in cardstock or designer paper, and than decorate the card anyway you want.  First of all the pic ....

Thanks to Inkscape I was able to create the inside scalloped circle using the dynamic offset option.  Otherwise I would become frustrated getting the correct size!

Here are the SCAL2 file, Make the  Cut file and also a scut2 file for your use.

I would like to wish you a Happy Turkey Day...as the turkey would say...eat beef...:-)

Now onto the Christmas cards...I decided they will be simple this year.  No fancy card base this time.  Next year I hope to start Christmas cards earlier....like July or August...yeah, right!!

I will be stamping a greeting in the inside and have stamped an image of three sheep on the left lower corner.
I have completed the birthday card for my step-daughter who will turn 40 on December 4th.  Actually the card svg is one I shared with you and I used my Make the Cut software to create this card and the embellishments.  My SCAL2 and Cricut Personal does not work well with Windows 7 and the generic USB driver I downloaded from Craftedge only works with Make the Cut when I unplug the USB cable from the USB port (I believe there is an issue with the USB Serial converter !)  Also it's time to bite the bullet, and buy a Cricut Expression but I am going to be spending  three months with my daughter-in-law and family in Kansas and seeing my son come home from Iraq in March, the money for the Expression is not in the budget.  Enough of my ramblings...here's the pic of the birthday card...

I have attached the card to piece of cardstock giving it stability and also be able to use envelope I already have in my stash...I would have to create a envelope for the smaller version and trying to finish up my Christmas cards, go to Mississippi for a couple days, and get back to pack for my trip to Kansas...didn't want to create the envelope.

Hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving.

And here's another pic of my 16 yr old grandson, D.J. holding his little cousin, Carson...notice the little belly on the lil man.... last I heard he was 6 lbs 10 ozs....growing like a little weed, he is....:-)

Good morning to all....I have completed the birthday card for my youngest granddaughter, Kassidy.  She will be turning 7 on the 30th of this month....and since she loves to play with her hotwheels on a daily basis, and seems like hour of playing, making sure they're all lined up a certain way...she is OCD as well as ADHD.  Here is the pics of the final card that I plan to include a McDonald's gift card....I still have to make an envelope as the card is slightly higher than a normal envelope.

Now to finish the Christmas cards which I will try to post when finished.  I'm making them simple this year....no fancy cuts or designs, or sizes....Cricut Personal still don't work that well with my new laptop ... and planning a trip to Kansas for the Christmas holidays and no money available for a Cricut Expression.

I am trying to sell some of my wood mounted rubber stamps stash as I do not use these particular ones, plus I am finding I use more digital images in my work.

Now off to get my shower, dress for the day and go mail a package to my granddaughter and than stop at the scrapbook store downtown....

Hope u all have a blessed day.

Hi yall all...my youngest granddaughter, Kassi will be turning 7 end of this month and since she likes cars (will play with her collection of nearly 100 Hotwheels for hours) I am working on her b-day card.  I am sharing what I have finished so far.....

I have not finished the tires or the body...when I work with a project I take my time so it will look good.  I'm no professional but want my work to be good.  Not sure what to do with the tires just yet...it will be a shade of black/gray.

Thank you for looking.

Hello all...I created a card with Happy at top and Birthday on bottom.  The individual letters can be 'broken apart' easily...I believe by break apart and clicking on each one and moving so you can cut the base card and each individual letter in a different color.

Here is the Happy Birthday card svg file:

I have finally finished the baby mini-album/card for my granddaughter and husband...here are several pics of the album ....

and more....

This mini-album is for my granddaughter to use to place pics of her little boy into.  Thank you for looking.

I have been MIA in my creating of cut files but that is due to making Halloween and Thanksgiving cards to send out, plus working on a mini-album/baby card for my granddaughter which I will post pics when finished with the album.  Sorry I mailed the Halloween cards without posting to this blog...my apologizes.  Here is couple pics of thanksgiving card which is in the form of a easel card.  I like that design the best.  I am planning to make my own envelopes to use for mailing these cards.

Here is the inside of the card:

If blogger continues to have me sign in each time I check my blog out, I will be moving all to wordpress!!  It's aggravating, for me, to click on my saved link and low and behold, need to sign in...every time.  Than there are times I can click on the link and it goes to blog w/out having to sign in...something's screwy here.

I worked on this file last night and to be quite honest, I don't know how it will work for you when uploading to your computer...in Inkscape it was slow getting around b/c of the size of the file, I believe.  This file can be a gate fold card with the two ends folding into the center, having the rose borders against each other.  Or you can use as a mat for a card or scrapbook page....

I have decided that since I have a new laptop using Windows 7, that I will create svg files for those who are able to cut the files (I can't because of the new firmware installed thru Cricut Design Studio using Windows 7) and will set it up as Make the Cut files as well (since I can, with a little juggling) to cut the files.  I am going to convert my granddaughter's b-day card to MTC format.  At least I have saved some money by not purchasing a new Cricut...it would be the same problem I am having now.  Plus I will wait for Craftedge to update their version of SCAL2 so it can bypass the little 'problem' with the newest firmware (I believe intentional on the makers of Cricut!)  Onto creating a svg file to share with you all.

Monday, October 11, 2010

I haven't worked on any files as right now my Cricut Personal is not working for me.  I have downloaded the newest firmware from Cricut Design Studio, and done everything suggested on Craftedge with downloading and discussed thru e-mail with Craftedge.com (Cricut.com refuses to answer my e-mail or cry for help)....and to be quite honest, I don't even know if purchasing a brand Cricut would be the solution.  I almost afraid of investing the money and still have the problem.    I installed the drivers but it's in craftedge folder with SCAL and wondering if the drivers are in the wrong folder. When downloading the drivers software from SCAL/Craftedge it asked for place to install and I indicated the SCAL file folder.  Even purchased a new usb cable for the machine hoping that would be the solution, but NOT.  So I am at my wits end.  Wondering if any of you followers would have a solution to this problem.  I have my 10 yr old granddaughters b-day card in a file ready to cut out along with my step-daughter's b-day card for her 40th b-day but that is in Dec.  My granddaughter's b-day is in a couple weeks, b/4 my social security check comes into the bank.  Is there any other cutting machines on the market that cuts svg files besides Cricut.  The machine I have is about 4 yrs old and would purchasing a brand new one correct this problem.  I have problems with cutting from Cricut Design Studio...always requesting that I install the new firmware...which I have done six times now.  Anyhow, if anyone has a solution to this problem short of purchasing a brand new machine, I would appreciate hearing from you...I have all these svg files and do not want to change cutting machines.  Thank you

On Saturday, October 2, 2010 my first great-grandson, Carson Joseph DiMarzio arrived at 4 lbs 15 ozs and 18 inches long.  And dr told happy parents, for his size, he is very healthy.  We're alllllllllll so happy even though I am green with jealousy because I could not be there for the happy event.  Facebook and phone calls keep me posted.

Baby Carson is taking his own sweet time arriving...nothin happening...they're hangin out at the hospital waiting...waiting...and more waiting. Inducing labor may be next unless something happens between now and this evening.
Baby hasn't arrived yet....but she is at hospital waiting ... hasn't dilated much... so a long wait.... this is their first child... Will post pics as soon as they post them....Hopefully by this evening there will be a little one.   Mama seems to be find....her sister not happy..she'd prefer to be at hospital but scheduled to work today and couldn't get anyone to fill in.  Grandpa...he's like his dad...a workaholic ... went into work at 3 a.m. this morning...I'll keep you posted.
Little over an hour ago my granddaughter text me to let me know she was on her way to the hospital as her water broke.  In a few hours I will be a great-grandmama...my first great-grandchild and ultrasound indicated a.... BOY.  So.... Carson Joseph is on his way to join mama and daddy sometime in the next few hours.  And great-grandma's sitting here waiting for that call letting me know he has arrived and all is well.  The Lord has answered a small prayer....Connie was starting to have some health issues that we was not sure if she would be able to deliver naturally.  Right now, I'm hoping all is going well, and she doesn't pass out in delivery with her heart stopping and restarting itself...God will be with her.  Can't wait for the first pics of the little one.  Wish I could be up north in Indiana for the delivery....

Today has been a pretty good day...pleasant with a breeze. I will be finishing the potholders for the potholder swap this coming Sunday and get them labeled, readying them for mailing to California. I will post pics b/4 I pkg them up so you all can see them. Going to work on a couple of b-day cards, and get my old laptop cleaned up preparing to mail to granddaughter for her b-day gift. She will be soooooooo surprised and excited. Well, I'm off to bed ... read for awhile and than go to sleep. TTYL

Here is a quick file to share with u all .... idea that I created after seeing the card in my 2010-11 Stampin Up Idea catalog....Just a simple card using the Cricut and Inkscape and Sure Cuts a Lot software...u can convert it to the Make the Cut software as well....In the file, the scalloped is to the side of the card for easy cutting out.  I haven't quite figured out working with layers and saving in Inkscape.  Working in Sure Cuts a Lot is a lot simpler.

Where is this month going to...soon will be October with birthdays and Halloween projects to look forward to.  With Halloween a month away, I decided to work on a Halloween card using pumpkins leaning against a fence.  I first increased the pumpkin image to make as a shadow blackout, and the upper pumpkin design can be done using Cri-Kit Gel Pens and than colored in with whatever method you like and glue it to the shadow blackout.  Or you can cut out the second piece and attached to the shadow blackout.  Here is the picture and file for your use:

I am still having problems of displaying images into this blog, but the svg cut file will or should be correct without changing the proportion sizes... I had to squeeze the card image itself in order to display correctly into this blog area.

I have been busy this evening working on stamping logo on back of the greeting cards I am donating to Operation Write Home in preparation  of mailing them out next week.  Plus I have created a couple of files for Christmas cards that I am hoping to mass produce to send to this organization.  Right now, I am considering going to bed and watch the PBS station on t.v.  Nite everyone.

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Thank you followers for being patient with me in my blogging experiences.  And now I will work on my Inkscape skills where I use layers.  I can do this in Sure Cuts A Lot as it's easy but it's a learning experience with Inkscape right now.  I feel pretty good of posting my pics of files I created.
Good morning and I hope everyone is or will be having a good day.  I worked on something simple using a svg file that I found on another blog, but not sure if it's Penny Duncan's Creations or who to thank for.  I used the cut file and make a card from it.

Here is my svg file as promised along with a picture of it....  I tweaked, and done more tweaking and finally came up with a finished product to post.  It's another idea of a garden gate with flowers.  I added a sentiment of "Happy Hello" but it can be changed to anything you would like. Plus the flowers not 'combined' to gate...just click on flowers and move in order to cut flowers properly.

Another beautiful day and I'm just 'waking' up.  As to the Art in the Park Sale, I really haven't made up my mind to participate next year; and I have tried Esty.com but never sold anything on their website.  I did sell a doll on Artfire.com, another site that allows u to list your craft items for sale and no charges applied to the listings.   Webstore.com is like ebay, but no charges for listings as they have advertisers covering their charges.  But I have found no 'action' there.

Right now, the dolls and lap quilts will be packed and mailed to Fort Riley, Kansas where they will have a post-wide yard sale on the 1st of October, and my daughter-in-law will try to sell the dolls for me, along with the jewelry she makes and is selling. (If anyone is interested in looking at her jewelry, let me know through a comment at end of this posting, or e-mail me at cmsmith46580@gmail.com)  She has not created a blog, but does have Facebook and Twitter account where the pictures are stored.  (Fort Riley, Kansas is a Army base where my son is based out of, but right now deployed to Iraq.)  One of my dolls will be on it's way to Indiana for a baby gift; and the baby quilt will also be on its' way to Indiana for my great-grandson due latter part of October.

I have been working on a svg file  to post but haven't quite decided how to do it so continuing on with the tweaking, tweaking and more tweaking...lol.  Plus I am planning to create a ragged-square baby quilt for a Christmas gift for the great-grandson.  I will keep busy.  And will look into Esty.com even though I don't agree with the charges...money I earn on these dolls, I feel is mine!

Sunday, September 05, 2010

It's been a day of being let down... the Art in the Park was a total waste of my time and energy.... I left the park disappointed and once in the car, broke down in tears.  At this time, I am not considering doing this again next year, but I will mail 5 of the dolls and the lap quilts to Fort Riley, Kansas for the post-wide yard sale the 1st of October.  If they don't sell, I will be listing them on ArtFire.com (a ebay type website without the fees, etc. (I don't do well at all on webstore.com where listings are free!)  At least with the quilts, if they don't sell, my granddaughters can have them :-)

I will post a digital or svg file when my emotions are back in check.  Thank you.

Saturday, September 04, 2010

I will be delayed in posting a new digital or svg file as tomorrow is the big Day for Art in the Park. Wish me luck....and my daughter-in-law as well as she has handmade jewelry for sale. Thank you for being patience with me.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Sorry I didn't get this posted this weekend, but it was a busy one trying to finish up for Art in the Park Craft on Sunday, September 5, 2010 and went to Michaels in Huntsville Sunday morning (best time to avoid the traffic).  I created a Butterfly edged card and hope you all will enjoy it.  Thank you.

Monday, August 23, 2010

I created this card for my granddaughter who will be 10 year old in October.  I started out with a different design, but changed it since Inkscape did not cooperate for me too well.  Once Art in the Park Craft Sale is finished, I will cut this out and decorate it.  And than post the finished results on here.

If anyone is interested in the svg file, please request, and I will be happy to send to you, or if there is enough interest I will post the svg file.  Thank you.
